Don't Believe the Lies!
There are many beliefs about exercise, nutrition and the lack thereof. The following article is an attempt to expose many of these myths and reveal the TRUTH about health, fitness, and food. I know you will enjoy this very much!
Myth #1: Eating Late at Night Makes You Fat
The Facts: Your body doesn't have an internal timer that causes late night eats to be stored directly as fat. Weight gain happens when you eat too much and exercise too little - you could eat too much in the morning, the afternoon, or late at night and it would all result in weight gain.
- Your Solution: Consider how many calories you eat and burn each day, rather than when you eat.
- TRUTH: If you believe you can gain weight because you eat late... You Will!
- Affirmation: My body is a calorie burning machine 24/7... My food choices are nourishing for this wonderful body, whenever I decide it is time to refuel
The Facts: Eating snacks throughout the day is actually a great way to keep your metabolism up and to avoid overeating at meals. However, if you snack on junk food then be prepared to pack on pounds.
- Your Solution: When it comes to snacking it's all about what you snack on.
- TRUTH: If you believe you will gain weight because you snack too much... You Will!
- Affirmation: My body is a calorie burning machine 24/7... I select healthy nourishing snacks throughout the day making my body healthy, whole and completely satisfied
The Facts: Exercise and healthy eating go hand-in-hand when it comes to permanent fat loss. Your body needs exercise just as it needs to be fed a diet filled with fresh produce, whole grains and lean protein.
- Your Solution: Accept exercise as a part of your daily lifestyle.
- TRUTH: If you believe you can lose FAT weight without any exercise at all ... You Will ... WHAT, that goes against logic... Yes it does, but is that your real belief? I seriously doubt you really believe that you can lose serious FAT weight without lifting a finger. Think about it; are you just saying it or do you really believe it.
- Affirmation: My body is a miracle in motion ... I am excited to move my body and train it in ways that give me great strength, endurance and stamina ... I am grateful for my body, it provides me with such wonderful service, I return this gratitude thru nutrition and exercise.
Myth #4: Fat Free Means 'All-You-Can-Eat'
The Facts: It's time to close your eyes and mentally erase everything that the 90's taught about fat-free dieting. Fat-free foods are not the equivalent of flavored air - they contain plenty of calories and often lots of sugar and salt.
- Your Solution: Be mindful of calories when eating fat-free foods.
- TRUTH: If you really love yourself, there is no need to be FAT FREE, Eating Fat Free sends a message to your subconscious that you are FAT and you're trying to lose weight. Poof, you are FAT, and you will always be trying to lose weight!
- Affirmation: I am healthy, whole, and complete. I love myself exactly the way I am.
The Facts: Eating too little causes your metabolism to shut down and puts your body into starvation mode, and prone to store fat rather than burn it.
- Your Solution: When it comes to fat loss think burn rather than starve.
- TRUTH: We are spiritual beings having a physical human experience. We need energy to live this thing we call life.
- Affirmation: My body responds to my commands for strength and endurance, in gratitude I give back the energy my body needs to keep serving my highest and best!
Myth #6: Diet Pills Work for Fat Loss
The Facts: The only thing that diet pills are capable of burning is the extra cash in your wallet. Billions of diet pills are sold every year - all to no avail.
- Your Solution: Healthy eating and exercise can never be replaced by a pill.
- TRUTH: You are what you believe; have you ever heard of the placebo affect? Try believing that what you "eat and drink" helps burn fat and gives you the body you want... Not a Pill!
- Affirmation: My body response to all of the good and healthy nutrition I provide to it. Using what it needs, when it needs it. I crave the nutrition my body needs and I am beautifully sculpted by the mind of the universe.
Myth #7: You Should Never Eat Fast Food
The Facts: It's all about what you order. Fried, processed and salty foods is proven to cause weight gain. Lean meat, salad, vegetables and beans, on the other hand, are available at many fast food chains and these choices provide ample nutrition to help burn fat - order these choices instead of the others.
- Your Solution: When eating fast food skip the fried items, stick with lean meats and salads.
- TRUTH: Again you are what you believe; Try believing that what you "eat and drink" helps burn fat and gives you the body you want ... Let us use the same affirmations for perceived unhealthy foods
- Affirmation: My body response to all of the good and healthy nutrition I provide to it. Using what it needs, when it needs it. I crave the nutrition my body needs and I am beautifully sculpted by the mind of the universe.
Trying to lose weight is often a frustrating experience. In a world filled with quick fixes and false mind messages, lasting weight loss is not something that happens overnight. Remember that it took time to gain the weight, so it will also take some time to lose it.
Permanent weight loss happens as a result of a proper exercise and diet plan, but most importantly, your mind needs to change around your core beliefs about food and exercise - my specialty.
