Exercise and Feeling Great for the Holidays!

Happy Holidays

If you would like to see these benefits reveal themselves in your life join tilt total training and get trained by NJ's #1 Fitness Experts.

For more details go to www.tilttotaltraining.com

Here are some benefits you will uncover as you begin your NEW holiday workout program into the New Year!

Contibuted by our friends at WebMD

Distraction:  Physical activity itself can take your mind off of your problems and either redirect it on the activity at hand or get you into a Zen-like state.  Exercise usually involves a change of scenery as well, either taking you to a gym, a park, or a sidewalk – all of which can be pleasant, and calming.

Lookin’ Good:  Exercise helps you lose weight, tone your body, and maintain a healthy glow and a smile.  You may feel a subtle but significant boost as your clothes look more flattering on, and you project an aura of increased confidence and strength.

Social Support:  Because exercise and physical activity can often involve others, you can enjoy a double dose of relief with the combined benefits of exercise and fun with friends.  Having others workout with you can make you feel good as well as help motivate you to push harder and get a better workout.

Increased Health:  Improving your overall health and longevity with exercise can strengthen your body physically inside and out, making your body less prone to cardiovascular diseases as well as increasing your body’s immune system.  Strengthening your immunity to colds, the flu, and other minor illnesses and the long run (by helping you stay healthier longer, and enjoy life more because of it).

Resilience to Change:  Those who get more exercise may become less affected by the challenges they face and more effective towards them.  So, in addition to all the other benefits, exercise may supply some immunity toward the future’s unknown ups and downs and aids in coping with current situations.

Exercise Endorphins:  Exercise can increase endorphins – your body’s “feel good” chemicals, giving your mood a natural boost.

If you would like to see these benefits reveal themselves in your life join tilt total training and get trained by NJ's #1 Fitness Experts.

TOP TEN ways to avoid gaining weight this holiday season

10- Out of sight, out of mind (stay away from the food and drink tables at holiday parties, keeping your eyes off the food and drinks makes it possible to resist them more easily)
9- Eat a healthy medium sized meal 20-30 mins before going to a holiday party (this will fill you up and make it easier to resist tempting foods)
8- Coach yourself in the mirror (tell yourself in the mirror how successful you are doing on your weight loss journey and always remember to tell yourself, I love you)
7- Surround yourself with friends and family who support you and your goals.
6- Food is not your enemy. (know deep down in your heart that food is not your enemy, you are just choosing to not participate in indulgence, you can have anything you want just know when too much is TOO MUCH!, if you can't breathe or you need to unbutton your pants, or you need to stay standing to not fall asleep... THAT IS TOO MUCH!)
5- Use smaller cocktail plates instead of dinner plates
4- Do not get seconds, thirds, and fourths
4- If you must have another plate; Wait at least 45 minutes between plates. This will help kick start your metabolism.
3- Always choose the dessert that has natural ingredients like fruit as its main source of sweetness, stay away from processed foods
2- Drink plenty of water. have at least 8 oz with every meal and shoot for 16 oz if possible.  Also, if you know you are going to eat a little more drink about 20 oz before the meal.
1- Be very grateful for your food, family, and friends, they are a gift in your life and the more grateful you are for them and other things in your life, you will see miracles happen in your life... Like losing weight instead of gaining it during the holiday season.

Have a healthy and happy holiday season.
With love,

Theo Tilton

You Abuse Food

Comfort Food...Your Two-Sided Friend

With one holiday under your loosened belt, you're gearing up for many more celebrations...and piles of seasonal comfort food. If you don't mind, I'd like to be totally candid with you today.

Sure, I could write you a 'feel good' article about cutting back a few calories and exercising a few minutes each day, but I'd rather be perfectly frank (and truly helpful).

Here's the real deal: You abuse food.

That's right. You're overweight because you eat too much, and you eat too much because it brings immediate pleasure.

I am here to point out that this pleasure comes at high price...

The other side of comfort food: You've heard dishes being referred to as 'comfort food'—some restaurants even have an entire section of their menu designated as comfort food. But comfort food is more than just a hearty dish.

  • It's those extra calories that you eat to feed an emotional need rather than a nutritional need.
  • It's excessively big portions that leave you stuffed.
  • It's high calorie snacks.
  • It's sugary treats.
  • It's fried, cheese smothered appetizers.
  • It's whatever you indulge in with mindless munching.

Could you relate to any of the above? Most of us tend to gravitate toward a particular form of comfort food. For many women it's chocolate or other sugary treats. For men it often takes a saltier form.

Think of the last time you ate for pleasure rather than nourishment. Why'd you do it?

Out of Habit: Your body loves routine. If you always snack while watching television then you'd probably find it hard to relax without going through that munching motion. The good news is that once you break the cycle your body will quickly adapt to a healthier routine.

To Change Your Mood: Does the thought of a cupcake bring a smile to your lips? How about a large pizza to lift your mood? Pay attention to the emotions that trigger you to overeat—you may be surprised how often you use food to feel better.

Because Everyone's Doing It: Who can resist comfort food when it's offered among friends? Peer pressure doesn't just apply to teenagers—it's another reason to overeat. Remember that true friends will support your decision to refrain.

Can you remember how you felt after you last filled up on comfort food? If you're honest, you'll admit that the stuffed and bloated feeling was downright awful. So why do it?

Come on, where have your eating habits gotten you?

  • Into clothes that are a few sizes larger.
  • Drained and with less energy than ever before.
  • Plagued with health concerns and prescriptions.
  • Embarrassed and frustrated with your body.

Most people don't realize it, but the battle to overcome your eating habits is decided by a single body part—and it's not your mouth. (Your mouth is simply a puppet.)

It's your brain. Once you've made up your mind, for better or for worse, you can bet that your body will obey your decision to the letter. You've proven it time and time again.

So make the decision to give up your unhealthy dependence on comfort food.

There is no better time than now.

Making a change is hard—that's why I'm committed to being with you every step of the way. Call today to schedule a consultation.

You can end the abuse, once and for all.

The Importance of Strength Training

From our friends at the Mayo Clinic...

Everyone knows that exercise is good for you, but if your aerobic workouts aren’t balanced with strength training, you are missing out on a key component of overall health and fitness. With regular strength training you can:

  • Develop strong bones. Putting force on your bones with strength training helps to increase bone density and reduce the risk or lessen the impact of osteoporosis.
  • Control your body fat. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat. Simply, the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn, helping you maintain or lose weight.
  • Reduce your risk of injury. Muscle helps protect your joints from injuries. It also helps you maintain your flexibility and balance as you age.
  • Boost your stamina. As you get stronger, you won’t fatigue as easily. Everyday tasks won’t be as hard.
  • Improve you sense of well-being. Strength training can help to boost your self-confidence, body image, and reduce the risk of depression.
  • Get a better night’s sleep. People who strength train regularly are less likely to struggle with insomnia.

It’s never too late to start a strength training program. All ages and ability levels can benefit from strength training.

______________________________________________________________________
Why did you start the business? Fifteen years ago, I (Theo) was over 330 pounds and, with the assistance of fitness enthusiasts, I lost over 100 pounds and have actively kept it off ever since. I understand what it takes to accomplish this type of goals and to be successful long-term. I want to share this gift of health and vitality with others who are seeking only the best methods of true body transformation to <<bilde[1].jpg>>

change their lives. This is why I, along with my two partners Marla and Chuck, created tilt total training.

If you could do it again, what would you do differently? I would not change anything. I live and practice my life with the belief that everything happens to us for a reason; and that nothing is out of place ever! All things, events, circumstances that may seemingly should have, or could have, been done differently would not have allowed me to share this moment, right here, right now. Every outcome is always perfect!

What's the best business advice your parents gave? I have a role in my success and the success of others around me. If my clients are successful at obtaining their goals through me, then I will also be successful. Do not stop (striving) for what you believe in!

<<bilde[3].jpg>>
What personality trait helps you the most? Our ability to really understand and know the truth behind our clients, and what makes them tick. Motivating and inspiring others seems to come natural for us.

What's the hardest part of the job? Getting a client to own up to the fact that they are responsible for everything they do, and that the reason they are out of shape or not in shape is because of the way they treat and respect themselves in their own head. I'm not saying that certain individuals who have specific needs due to health-related issues is their fault; I am, however, a big believer that if you change your thinking around, your health, body, nutrition, and activity levels you will change your life, period, end of story!

The easiest? Making a change in someone's life once they believe in themselves!

Stretching 101

Flexibility is one of the three main components of fitness along with Strength and Endurance. It is also the one that is most often neglected. It's important to allocate time within your workout for a good 5-10 minute stretch before and after your activity.

If you really want to change your whole life, you can start by changing the way you think about health and fitness.

Remember you control your own reality.  A simple change of thought, can and will change your life!

For innovative classes and personal training to bring you to that new realm of possibility in life go to

www.tilttotaltraining.com and look up our classes, programs and packages under the about us section for more details.

Always warm-up before stretching
Don't try to stretch a cold muscle. Always warm-up first to get blood circulating throughout the body and into the muscles. A warm-up should be a slow, rythmic exercise of larger muscle groups done before an activity.

Benefits of Pre-workout Stretching
Stretching before an activity can help prevent many common injuries such a sprains, strains and tears. This preparatory activity stimulates circulation to the muscle, connective tissue areas and joints, increase flexibility and improve range of motion. In short, stretching helps prepare the body for activity.

Benefits of Post-workout Stretching
Post-exercise stretching can aid in workout recovery, decrease muscle soreness, and ensure that your muscles and tendons are in good working order. The more conditioned your muscles and tendons are, the better they can handle the rigors of sport and exercise, and the less likely that they'll become injured.

Incorporate stretching into your workout routine and you can expect the following additional benefits:
Reduced muscle tension
Increased range of movement in the joints
Enhanced muscular coordination
Increased circulation of the blood to various parts of the body
Increased energy levels (resulting from increased circulation)

If you really want to change your whole life, you can start by changing the way you think about health and fitness.

Remember you control your own reality.  A simple change of thought, can and will change your life!

For innovative classes and personal training to bring you to that new realm of possibility in life go to

Is it your fault we lost $700B ?

Hi there-
Are you concerned with all of the crap going on right now with the market,
banks, the world at large?
If you said yes, then you really need to read this!

What does the world at large, the market, the banks, your money and your
health all have in common?

You!

You are a witness to everything that is going on in the world.
However, how you deal with the information has a direct reflection on to
you.

Are you stressed, over weight, unhealthy.
Does it have anything to do with your view of the world and what is going on
around you?

If I told you, that you can be stress free, ideal body weight, healthy ,
whole and complete would you be interested in what I have to say?

YES! Well, at least someone is listening...

STOP THE INSANITY
Think about this for just 5 minutes...Really think about it, and close your
eyes when you think. Breath in and out very slowly, be present with your
breath.

Repeat this mantra for 5 minutes with eyes closed then open and read between
the dotted lines:
I am OK, All is well, I am alive, I breath and let go...

--------------------------------------www.tilttotaltraining.com/bootcamp.htm
l-----------------------------------------

Think about the person you want to become and the goals you have. Look at
your daily life and start eliminating everything that isn't inline with
those goals and who you want to be.

Like for example if you watch TV, ask yourself is the TV program fit into
the vision of the life I really want to create? And if it isn't then stop
and replace that valuable time with something that fits into who you are
becoming-

Like exercising, learning an instrument, a language, working on a business
idea, or researching how you are going to take that trip around the world
you have always dreamed of doing.

A different approach to the weigh you think about health and fitness

I received the funniest eMail from my Aunt Marie, see below... then read my perspective below the picture
*******************************************
The correct way to weigh yourself
I can't believe I was doing it wrong all these years!!
WE MUST SPREAD THE WORD.,
I'M SO GLAD I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS!

****************************************************************************************************

Now isn't this just a-stereotypical of American behavior to ignore the obvious.
It is fine to have a laugh once in a while, but let's really dive into what this
picture is saying to your Mind.

Basically, it is saying, your doing it all wrong and it is ok to be fat, overweight or obese.
Ignore what the scale says and be happy with who and what you are and the message
you are sending to your family and children and everyone around you.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

If you would love to practice a NEW way of thinking around fitness
Join boot camp at
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Let's take a different approach...
What do you suppose would happen if you actually loved yourself and you began to reprogram
your mind that you were Healthy, Whole, and Complete, just the way you were and that everything you do or say
regarding your body image and weight is always positive.  What then?
Do you think that you will continue you to get worse or better?

What do you suppose would happen if you prayed a small prayer before each time you ate
and your prayer was to yourself in the present tense.  Something like this:
I know that I live in a world that is always perfect, I am part of that world so therefore I am perfect.
In this perfection I know that I am Healthy, Whole and Complete.
The food and drink that goes into my body has a purpose and its purpose is to serve me.
It serves me for my better good in all that I do.  My nourishment regardless of what it is is moving and directing
every cell in my body toward my idea weight, toward my idea body composition and this is why I am
perfect.  I am so thankful for this nourishment for I know that the energy I receive from this food and drink
is serving me to my highest and best good.  I say these words in confidence knowing that it is the TRUTH.
With gratitude I now release these words into MIND and they will act and not return on to me void.
I LET IT BE SO, and it is done!

Now let me tell you, this is not a close your eyes and pray for a miracle, open and poof your a super model.

What this is... is reconditioning your mind to the larger Mind and the TRUTH that is all about life.
I AM, YOU ARE, WE ARE ALL PERFECT The WAY WE ARE!
It is just hidden under that Fat that can simply melt off if you want it too!

THINK off the FAT!
Change the way you think about your health, weight, fitness, strength , and abilities and you will see a perfect image
of yourself emerge from within yourself that you may have never seen before.

THAT IS A MIRACLE.

If you are interested in changing your life using these NEW principles in Health and Fitness I can train you
and you will never be the same again.

Your body is a reflection of your mind and spiritual strength.  I'm not talking about religion when I speak of
spiritual I'm speaking about your core beliefs.

What Colors Are you eating?

Once in a while I get information that is worth sending to everyone.
This is an example of such information.
I'm a beleiver in a fully colorful diet so this is very appropriate from Prevention Magazine

"How colorful is your plate?  If you have lots of different colors on your plate, chances are you are getting a wide array of nutrients that each give you a unique health benefit.

    • Yellow/Orange:  rich in carotenoids, a type of antioxidant that helps prevent the development of some cancers.  Good sources include carrots, sweet potatoes, mango, melon, pumpkin, and corn.
    • Green:  veggies of this color are high in lutein, a nutrient that helps keep your vision sharp and helps delay age-related macular degeneration.  They also have powerful cancer-fighting nutrients.  Good sources include broccoli, spinach, and green beans.
    • Blue/Purple:  these foods are rich in anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that suppress the growth of tumors.  Good sources are blueberries and blackberries.
    • Red:  loaded with lycopene, foods of this color help stave off heart disease and cancer.  Good sources are watermelon and cooked tomatoes.
    • White:  sulfuric compounds and vitamin C in some of these foods may help prevent stomach and colon cancers, as well as provide benefits for the heart.  Good sources include cauliflower, onions, garlic, and potatoes.  Other white foods like chicken, seafood, tofu, and low-fat dairy provide much-needed lean protein for the body.

So mix up your plate!  These different antioxidants work as a team and are more powerful when combined than eaten alone."

Yours in excellent Health,
Theo

Back from Bliss

I had the most incredible week of my life so far.
I spent the entire week at a retreat in California near Pebble Beach called Asilomar.
The retreat was a Spiritual conference named after the location Asilomar 2008 "International Centers for Spiritual Living" formerly "RSI"

What I did:
I submerged my self into the spirit of life and learned several things about myself and other around me.
I have always known that I am in control of my reality but I never really grasped to the degree at which this was true.
The truth is that everything and everyone is around you in your life for your life for a very specific reason, to learn.
LIFE JUST IS! SPIRIT JUST IS!

It has been stated that there are 6.8 Billion people on this planet and it should also be known that there ARE
6.9 BILLION DIFFERENT REALITIES.

What is your reality?
What are you saying to yourself everyday?
Are you consistently putting yourself down?
Things like: I'm so fat, I'm so ugly, I'm so stupid sometimes, No body likes me, I'll do it later, I can't do it, I'll never be the person I want to be; I dont have enough money, I don't have enough time.... guess what YOUR RIGHT!  the Universal SPIRIT is listening to you and says: "Your wish is my command".. Poof: You are FAT, You are UGLY, POOR, STUPID, UNHEALTHY, and a PROCRASTINATOR!

YOU BETTER WAKE UP SOON and realize YOU are ReSponsible for your LIFE
or you will repeat the same patterns over and over again untill you WAKE up one day and realize the TRUTH!

This type of thinking is what keeps you from your greatness.
Reverse all of those negative self talks into positive affirmative thoughts and see what LIFE brings to you.

Repeat these daily affirmations 7 times per day for the next 30 days:
  • I am healthy, whole and complete!
  • I am beautiful exactly the way I am!
  • I am filled with an intelligence that is immeasurable!
  • I am loved by everyone I meet and I love them!
  • I do things NOW and see my future as today!
  • All that I do, I do well and recieve recognition for it!
  • I am exactly who I am and that which I seek to be, seeks me!

If you are struggling with health and weight related issues.  I challenge you to change your thinking and you will see your LIFE unfold in mysterious ways, but you will know your TRUTH and realize that you had this POWER your entire life.

DAILY Health and Fitness Spiritual alignment work for the next 30 days:

  1. SAY your health and fitness AFFIRMATIONS
  2. EAT healthfully and frequently
  3. Drink water ABUNDANTLY
  4. EXERCISE the muscle that LIFE gave you daily, and REST on Sunday!

Transform your thinking around your health and fitness, Transform your life!

Healthy regards,
Theo
